Teenager, 17, seriously assaulted while walking down Glasgow street by man in car

A 17-year-old boy was seriously assaulted while walking down a Glasgow street late last night.

At around 11.30pm the teenager was walking on Gartloch Road near to Cumbernauld Road when a dark-coloured car pulled up behind him. A man got out of the car and assaulted him.

The 17-year-old was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary by ambulance where he is being treated for lacerations.

Hospital staff have described his condition as stable.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Stewart Menzies said: "We are still speaking to the victim of this attack to establish more information on the circumstances surrounding this incident and for more information on who is responsible.

"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident take place, or who has any information that may assist our investigation into this serious assault to contact Shettleston Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 5558 of 22 June.
