Teenager, 16, rushed to hospital after being struck with 'corrosive substance' during brawl in south London

A teenage boy has been rushed to hospital after being struck with a “corrosive substance” during a brawl in south London, police said.

Officers were called to reports of people fighting with weapons in South Norwood High Street at about 4.30pm on Monday.

They arrived to find the 16-year-old victim suffering injuries thought to be from a corrosive substance.

He was taken to hospital and his injuries are thought not to be life-threatening.

There have been no arrests and enquiries are continuing.

A section 60 order, which gives officers the greater power to stop and search in the area, was put in place.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference Cad 5267/7Oct.
