Teenager, 13, with no underlying health conditions dies after testing positive for coronavirus

A 13-year-old with no underlying health conditions has died after testing positive for coronavirus, NHS England said on Friday.

No further information has been released about the victim.

NHS England said a further 315 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 80,739, NHS England said on Friday.

Patients were aged between 13 and 103.

All except 26, aged between 13 and 96, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between April 18 2020 and February 18 2021.

There were 42 other deaths reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.

More than 100,000 people in the UK have now died of coronavirus since the pandemic began.

According to the latest government figures released on Thursday, 454 people in the UK across all settings died of coronavirus, and 12,057 people tested positive for the virus within 24 hours.

The seven-day numbers of positive tests has fallen to 84,589 (down 20.3 per cent) and the number of deaths over seven-days has fallen to 3,858 (down 26.9 per cent).

Separately, the rate of reproduction of the virus has fallen to 0.6. according to latest estimates.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce on Monday the so-called road map - or exit - out of the England-wide lockdown.
