Teenager, 13, charged after fire destroys lorry and damages house in East Lothian

A teenager has been arrested and charged after a lorry was set on fire in a Scots town.

The lorry and its trailer were set ablaze yesterday afternoon, August 24, in Well Wynd, Tranent sparking an emergency response by the fire brigade and cops.

Officers from Police Scotland say the intense heat from the blaze caused damage to a nearby house.

Pictures show the charred shell of the vehicle as a firefighter dampens down the blaze.

Cops say a 13-year-old has been found and charged in connection.

An East Lothian police statement reads: "Police were called to Well Wynd, Tranent, yesterday afternoon, by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, who were dealing with a large vehicle and trailer on fire.

"Due to the intensity of the blaze a nearby property was also damaged.

"Following enquiries, a 13-year-old male youth was traced and subsequently charged with the offence.

"If anyone has any further information regarding the incident then they are asked to contact Police on 101 and quote incident number 1888 of 24/08/2020.

"Or alternatively they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111"
