Teenager seriously hurt after being hit by car in Salford

A young woman was seriously hurt after being hit by a car in Salford.

The 18-year-old sustained serious head injuries following the incident in Lower Kersal yesterday.

A man, also 18, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and possession of cannabis. He remains in custody.

Police were called to reports of a collision involving a black Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian at the junction of Kingsley Avenue and Cheadle Avenue, at about 5.50pm.

The woman is in hospital in a 'serious but stable' condition, GMP said.

Police Constable Simon Venguedasalon, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the victim as she remains in hospital for treatment to what are serious head injuries and we wish her well with her recovery.

"We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of this collision or who may have dash cam footage of the proceeding moments leading up to this incident – your information may prove to be crucial evidence as we piece together what happened here."

Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident 2094 of 13/02/2021. Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
