Teenage talent Brennan Johnson commits future to Nottingham Forest with new long-term deal

Nottingham Forest have tied down teenage talent Brennan Johnson to a new long-term deal.

The 18-year-old has put pen to paper and committed his future to the Reds, despite a number of clubs understood to have shown an interest in the youngster.

The Nigel Doughty Academy product only made his debut in the Forest first-team last month, when he came off the bench on the opening day of the season in the 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

He was a substitute again in the Carabao Cup triumph over Fleetwood Town, and then made his first start in the Garibaldi in the 3-0 thumping of Derby County in the same competition.

Johnson is regarded as one of the brightest prospects coming up through the ranks at the club, and first signed a professional deal in the summer of 2018.

He caught the eye in pre-season and quickly impressed new head coach Sabri Lamouchi, who has spoken highly of the midfielder.

After his giving him his full debut against the Rams, Lamouchi said of the Wales Under-21 international: “He is under 18 and is just an unbelievable player with the right mentality.

“I said to him, like I say to all the players, ‘I don’t care about the age or the name’. He deserved to play.

“And for me, it was the right choice, without any doubt.”
