Teenage striker confirms Manchester United trial

Teenage forward Devon Arnold has confirmed he is on trial with Manchester United as he looks to secure a deal in the summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old forward is being looked at by United and he made the perfect first impression when he netted the winning goal on his debut.

Arnold played his first game for United U23's on Tuesday and netted the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory against Stoke City.

Taking to social media after the match Arnold uploaded a picture of himself wearing United training gear along with the message: "1-0 win today! Played 90 mins. Scored the goal."

The teenage forward is a free agent this summer after he left National League side Yeovil Town on a free transfer at the end of last season.

Arnold made one first-team appearance for the club, becoming Yeovil's youngest ever league player when he featured from the bench in a League Two match against Cheltenham in January 2019.

“I’m still learning the game and I’m always watching the top strikers such as Aguero and Kane or someone I feel I’m much more similar to in terms of my playing style such as Jamie Vardy," he told MTAG Football earlier this year.

“I look to get in behind with pace and aggression and look to be very direct in getting towards goal because at the end of the day all I want to do is score goals.”

Arnold will be looking to continue his fine start to life at United when the U23s side travel to face Huddersfield in their next pre-season match on Saturday.
