Teenage motorcyclist seriously injured in north Manchester crash

A teenage motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a crash in north Manchester.

The youth was taken to hospital after his bike crashed with a Seat Leon on Oldham Road in Newton Heath on Saturday night.

Pictures from the scene show a badly damaged bike by the railings at the roadside.

Three ambulances and several police cars could also be seen.

No arrests have been made.

The crash took place close to the junction with Copenhagen Street at about 6pm.

A GMP spokesman said: "We were called to a road traffic collision involving a motorbike and a Seat Leon on Oldham Road at about 6pm.

"A youth was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"No arrests have been made."

One lane on Oldham Road was closed following the crash.

A scheduled closure of Oldham Road is also in place on Saturday night to allow for the demolition of the old Failsworth Industrial Society building on the corner of Old Church Street.
