Teenage girl taken to hospital after being knocked over in Heaton

A 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital after being knocked over in Newcastle.

Emergency services were called to Benton Road on Thursday morning following reports of a collision "involving a car and a pedestrian" near to the Hilden Gardens area of Heaton.

Paramedics attended and treated the girl before taking her to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, the North East Ambulance Service said.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said the teen had suffered "minor head injuries" as a result of the collision.

He said: "At 8.20am today (Thursday) we were alerted by the ambulance service to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Benton Road near the junction with Hilden Gardens, Newcastle.

“Officers attended and found a 15-year-old girl had suffered minor head injuries.

"She was taken to hospital as a precaution.”
