Teenage girl taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Manchester

A teenage girl has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in south Manchester.

The crash happened on the A6 Stockport Road in Levenshulme at around 11.25am this morning (Saturday).

A car hit a teenage girl, police said.

She was taken to hospital from the scene - her injuries are not believed to be serious.

The road was closed off in both directions between Alma Road and Crayfield Road after the crash.

A number of ambulance vehicles were pictured at the scene as well as police.

Traffic was diverted away from the area and some bus services were delayed.

Police reopened the road at around 12.15pm.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 11.25am this morning (10 July) police were called to a report of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian on Stockport Road.

"Police attended and the pedestrian, a teenage girl, was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be serious.

"No arrests have been made."
