Teenage girl smashed up cars and stole Dior sunglasses from vehicle at airport

A teenage girl smashed up car windows and stole from inside vehicles that had been left at Manchester Airport - including a pair of Dior designer sunglasses worth £250.

Cody Farrimond, 18, took what she could from inside the vehicles, the Manchester Evening News reports.

She even stole £10 in cash and a hand sanitizer that had been inside a first-aid kit.

Farrimond caused damage to a Range Rover and Jaguar that were parked in the car park.

The defendant was identified after DNA samples from blood on a seat inside one of the cars was found to be hers.

Manchester Magistrates court heard how the teen targeted the cars on June 23 and June 24 last year.

One of the complainants, Julian Haycock, left his Range Rover in the Terminal 1 long-stay car during his holiday.

Prosecutor Andrew Hey said Mr Haycock returned to see his car had been smashed into.

"The front-passenger window had been smashed. A first-aid bag inside the car had been rummaged through and some hand-sanitiser was taken", Mr Hey said.

"The seat inside the car was covered in blood. Samples were taken and DNA showed it to be this defendant's."

In a statement, Mr Haycock said the incident caused him a 'massive inconvenience'.

The second complainant, David Jones, left his Jaguar in the same car park.

"He returned to see it had a smashed window and a door was dinted", the prosecutor said.

Farrimond's defence lawyer David Philpott said that she was 'leading a chaotic lifestyle' at the time.

He said she had moved away from the Manchester area and is now living with her father in Bradford.

Farrimond admitted two charges of theft from a motor vehicle.

Magistrates handed her an £80 fine.

She also has to pay compensation to the complainants totalling £660.

The teen was handed a criminal behaviour order preventing her from entering Manchester Airport or any airport car parks unless she has a travel ticket for herself.
