3 people, including 16-year-old girl, wounded in Washington Heights shooting

A 16-year-old girl was grazed and a 19-year-old man seriously wounded Dec. 12, 2019, in a shooting in Washington Heights.

Two teens, including a 16-year-old girl, and a man were wounded Thursday in a shooting near an elementary school in Washington Heights on the South Side.

The trio were in the 1000 block of West 103rd Street about 8:40 a.m. when they were approached by a small, tan SUV occupied by four people, Chicago police said.

A young man exited and fired shots, striking a 19-year-old man in the mouth and the girl in the calf, police said.

The 19-year-old man was taken in serious condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. The girl was taken in good condition to Roseland Hospital.

A 15-year-old boy was grazed in the calf but left the scene before paramedics arrived, police said. He called 911 later and was taken to Roseland Hospital in good condition.

The shooting happened within a block of Marcus Garvey Elementary School, 10309 S. Morgan St.

No arrests have been made.
