Teenage girl left with permanent scarring after being hit by glass

A 15-year-old girl was left with permanent scarring after a glass thrown by a teenager, at his home in Wishaw, struck her.

The incident prompted the appearance of 18-year-old Denholm Fairley in the dock at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

Fairley pleaded guilty to a charge of culpable and reckless conduct at his home in Galloway Avenue, Coltness, on July 1 last year.

During the incident, Fairley threw the glass towards a group of people which struck the 15-year-old and smashed causing her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

Sheriff Douglas Brown deferred sentence on Fairley until June 7 and called for reports and restriction of liberty assessment to be carried ahead of the accused’s next court appearance.

A charge that Fairley behaved in a threatening manner by throwing a games controller at a TV which caused the television to smash was dropped by prosecutors.
