Teenage girl in serious condition after being rescued from sea in Bray, Co Wicklow

A teenage girl is in a serious condition after she was rescued from the sea off Bray promenade this evening.

Emergency services, including gardai, the Coast Guard and Civil Defence, raced to the scene after being alerted the 16-year-old was in difficulty at around 6:45pm.

A crowd that gathered on the promenade was cleared by gardai while an ambulance crew attended to the young girl before she was raced to St Vincent's Hospital.

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live investigations into the incident are ongoing.

She said: "Gardaí in Bray were alerted to an incident at the Seafront this evening, Thursday 12th May, 2020 at approximately 6.45p.m.

"Ambulance crew were at the scene of a girl pulled from the water, and required assistance of An Garda Síochána as a crowd were gathering. 

"The girl (16 years) was removed to St. Vincent's Hospital in a serious condition."
