Teenage girl hospitalised after alleged assault in Cork

Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault between two youths in East Cork believed to have broken out over a mobile phone.

The alleged incident took place just after 5pm today in the Dysart area of Youghal.

The girl's injuries are not believed to be serious with a source describing her wounds as "superficial" - CorkBeo reports.

Gardai confirmed and investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault that took place at approximately 5.20pm this evening, Friday 18 December 2020 in the Dysart area of Youghal in County Cork.

"A female youth was taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be serious.

"Enquiries ongoing."
