Teenage girl found safe after survivng night in bushland on south coast

A teenage girl is safe and well after spending the night in dense bushland on the NSW south coast while going missing riding a quad bike.

The girl, 15, was riding a quad bike with her brother on a fire trail west of the Princes Highway at Moruya about 8pm on Thursday, when they became separated, police said.

Her brother returned home and raised the alarm.

South coast police, a rescue helicopter from Canberra, a NSW police helicopter and SES volunteers searched for the girl.

The operation was called off overnight after several hours, and search efforts resumed on Friday morning.

The girl was found after 8am on Friday by SES volunteers in dense bushland.

She was not injured and is being reunited with her family.

NSW police have thanked emergency services and volunteers for their efforts during the search.
