Teenage girl falls on railway tracks after assault at train station

A teenage girl fell onto the tracks at a train station following an assault during the weekend.

The incident occurred at Risca and Pontymister at 6.25pm on Saturday, March 19, and involved a group of youths who'd gathered on the platform. The girl was left shaken and bruised from the fall and it's believed a fellow passenger had to help her from the tracks and to safety.

She was then taken to hospital for treatment with "minor injuries". A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "We received a report of an assault involving a group of young people which caused a teenage girl to fall on the tracks at Risca station at 6.25pm on Saturday, March 19.

"Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 508 of 19/03/22."
