Teenage girl dies after emergency services called to children's home in Paisley

A 16-year-old girl has died after emergency crews were called to a children's home in Paisley .

Officers were called to Roneil Children’s House in the town at around 5.05pm on Thursday after a concern for a person call.

The schoolgirl was rushed to Royal Alexandra Hospital where she later died.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police were called to a property on Stanley Road, Paisley, around 5.05pm on Thursday, February 27, following a concern for a person call.

“A 16-year-old girl was taken by ambulance to Royal Alexandra Hospital but died a short time later.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Renfrewshire Council, who oversee the children's home, said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of a young person yesterday (27 February) at Roneil Children’s House, Paisley.

“Our immediate priority is to provide support to the family and our young people and staff. This is currently a police matter and we cannot make further comment at this time. We will release a formal statement in due course.”
