A teenage girl is among two people to die off the Cornish coast in two separate bank holiday incidents.
In a "very tough day" Devon and Cornwall Police said the young girl died after getting trapped underneath a boat.
She was in a small group in a rigid-hulled inflatable boat near Porthilly Rock, in Wadebridge, on bank holiday Monday afternoon at about 2.25pm
In a statement, Police said: "The Air Ambulance and Coastguard were in attendance at the scene assisting with three casualties. All three people were taken to the lifeboat house before heading to Treliske Hospital.
"Sadly, a teenage girl was later pronounced deceased. Her next of kin have been informed."
Tragically, a man also died on Monday in another incident off the coast.
Just five minutes later, at 2.30pm, Police said it received a call of another incident at Treyarnon Bay, in Padstow.
The force said: "Emergency services attended the scene following reports that a man had been pulled from the water by a member of the public. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"The man has yet to be identified and next of kin to be sought."
Devon and Cornwall Police said they were also called to a third incident at around the same time, following reports surfers had pulled a man unconscious from the sea in Porthtowan, Truro.
He was taken to hospital in a serious condition and is receiving treatment, the force added.
Chief Inspector Ian Thompson said: “These are extremely upsetting circumstances and our thoughts go out to all involved.
“It has been a very tough day for local emergency services and we are asking for anyone with information on the above incidents to contact police quoting the applicable log number.”
