A teenager has been arrested following a devastating fire at a condemned pub on Heather Road in Newport.
Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at the disused Centurion Inn pub in St Julians, just after 7pm on Thursday.
Plumes of smoke could be seen across Newport as fire fighters fought to gain control of the blaze.
On Friday morning, a Gwent Police spokesman said a 17-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of arson and remains in police custody.
He added that officers are treating the fire as suspicious and a joint investigation with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is underway.

Pictures from the scene on Thursday showed flames and thick smoke coming from the property as residents looked on in shock.
Six fire crews attended the incident and there were no reports of any injuries.
The former Centurion Inn was set to be demolished and replaced with 10 affordable homes.
Newport City Council's planning committee voted to grant permission for the plans to go ahead in March.
Attempts to find someone to take over and reopen the pub had proven unsuccessful, according to council planning officers.
