Teenage Dublin thugs attack boys, 13, on first trip to Liffey Valley - and film it 'for laughs'

A vicious teenage gang assaulted a pair of 13-year-old boys on their first trip alone to a Dublin shopping centre - and filmed the whole ordeal.

The young group of up to ten thugs - who were aged between 16 and 17-years-old - initiated an argument with the helpless teens before repeatedly punching the pair in broad daylight.

Adrienne and Paul Campion had let their son Jody from Enfield, Co Meath go to Liffey Valley with three of his friends to watch a movie for the first time ever without being accompanied by an adult.

The film they wanted to see in the cinema was sold out so the four boys decided it was best to get the bus back.

Jody's sister Kasey told Dublin Live that as the boys headed back towards the bridge near Liffey Valley, one of his friends noticed that an older group were following them closely.

Kasey said: "Two of the friends knew something was going on and started to walk ahead of the pack.

"Jody and the other friend lagged behind and soon after that, the gang caught up with them.

"There must have been about ten of them and three of them had their phones out ready to record before anything was even said.

"It was obvious that they wanted to start on someone and Jody and his friend became the targets.

"One of the gang pointed at my brother and his friend and said to another group member 'one of them called you a faggot'.

"And that was how they started it. They went to punch Jody and he tried to duck to avoid it but ended up getting belted in the back of the head."

Jody's friend then intervened in order to protect him but was repeatedly punched by majority of the gang after before running away from the scene.

His mother Adrienne continues: "They are two of the quietest boys you could ever meet, they wouldn't harm anyone.

"The others didn't even rob the two boys. They just did it purely for laughs.

"Jody wasn't sure how many people were attacking his friend but he saw that at least three people were filming it.

"His friend ended up bleeding badly with cuts from his nose and above his eye. He had his two front teeth chipped and had bruising all over his face."

Both children were brought to A+E and while Jody's friend was released, he was kept in overnight over fears that he had sustained a concussion.

Adrienne added: "He had a big lump on the back of his head which was the size of a golf ball.

"The doctors feared that he had a concussion and decided to keep him in overnight.

"We're currently waiting for another doctor to see him. We want them to do a head scan just to make sure that he has no internal bleeding."

Adrienne added that the incident was reported to gardai by the father of the other child who are currently investigating the incident.
