Teenage driver pleads guilty to causing horror crash at Edgeworth

HORROR: Image shows the Maxi-taxi on its side following the crash.

A disqualified teenage driver who ran a red light and caused a horror crash at Edgeworth last year, slamming into a maxi-taxi and injuring 11 people, including critically injuring young mother-of-three Tamika Wever, has pleaded guilty. The teenager, who cannot be identified, appeared in children's court on Monday and pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, five counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct and driving while disqualified. He will be sentenced in December.

Police said officers were patrolling Edgeworth about 1.15am on September 26 last year when they saw a Holden Statesman leave a service station on Main Road and, due to the way it was being driven, did a U-turn to follow it. A short time later the Holden collided with a Toyota HiAce van at the intersection of Garth Street.
