The parents of a "rebellious" teenager abandoned her on a desert island in an attempt to "tame" her.
She was dumped on a deserted bit of land in Shandong, China, as she had annoyed her mum and dad by misbehaving.
The 13-year-old had to be rescued after flagging down some fishermen.
Her parents had became tired of her behaviour and wanted to make her grow up and survive out in the wilderness of the rocky outcrop she was taken to.
The Daily Mirror reported that the teenager had dropped out of schools and was just staying in her room all day.
It was hoped that she would be taught a lesson about hardship and adversity by being left to fend for herself.
The island is located one kilometre off the coast of Rushan City and has been deserted for many years.
It has no running water or electricity.
Accompanied by a survival expert, the girl spent two days on the island before contacting the fisherman, who reported the issue to the police.
When officers arrived she told them she "can't stand" living there on only water and compressed biscuits, reports China Press.
The police then ordered the parents to take their distressed daughter home.
They reluctantly agreed to do so, after noting that she seemed to have matured during the two day stay.
