Teenage dad died after car 'suddenly swerved' off the road, inquest told

A teenage father died after the car he was driving on his way home from work "suddenly swerved" and left the road.

Jac Lewis Williams was pronounced dead at the scene following the incident on the A465 between Glynneath and Hirwaun on Monday, January 11.

The 19-year-old was father to baby Oli-John, whom he had with girlfriend Shania.

the football-loving teenager played for Ton Pentre FC, who joined tributes to the 'gentle giant' goal-keeper.

Senior coroner Colin Phillips opened an inquest into Mr Williams’ death at a hearing in Swansea on Wednesday, January 20.

Mr Phillips said Mr Williams had been driving from work in Port Talbot to his home in Treorchy when the incident happened at around 4.50pm.

He said: “Mr Williams was the sole occupant of a white Ford Fiesta which had suddenly swerved and gone off the road.

“It left the carriageway over a barrier and into trees and bushes. No other vehicles were involved”.

He said he was now waiting on the results of a post-mortem. The hearing was adjourned for a full inquest, following the completion of a police investigation, on July 15.

A GoFundMe page set up to to help Mr Williams' partner Shania has already raised more than £19,000.
