Teenage cyclist taken to hospital after crash on busy roundabout

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car this morning.

Merseyside Police confirmed they were called to Town Lane in Southport after a boy was hit by a car while riding his bike.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 8.46am today (Monday, March 7) following a report of a collision involving a car and a cyclist.

The teen was taken to hospital after he suffered leg injuries in the crash.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Police are currently in attendance on Town Lane, Southport, this morning, Monday 7 March, following a report of a collision involving a car and a cyclist.

"Emergency services attended and the male cyclist was taken to hospital for an injury to his leg.

"The driver of the car, a silver Honda, stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries."

A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We’ve responded to an RTC involving a car and a bicycle following a call at 08.46. A teenage boy has suffered leg injuries and has been taken to hospital."
