Teenage cyclist remains in hospital following collision in Salford

A teenage cyclist remains in hospital following a collision in Salford.

Police were called to reports of a crash between a black Vauxhaull Corsa and a bike in Neptune Gardens, Salford shortly before 10.20pm on Friday.

The Corsa fled the scene before police arrived and a car believed to have been involved in the incident was found abandoned nearby, say officers.

The 18-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital following the crash.

He remains in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries, though they are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police cordoned off a large area near the site of the crash on Saturday, including Camp Street and Grecian Street, near Salford's Albert Park.

At around 4pm, the tape was removed but enquiries are ongoing, police have confirmed.

No arrests have yet been made.

Anyone with information should call GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4740 or 101 quoting incident number 3164 of 17/10/2020, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
