Teenage cannabis dealer 'foolishly' burgled home to claw back cash

A teenage cannabis dealer has admitted "foolishly" having a kitchen knife and burglary after he went to an address to claw back cash.

Mudasser Ismail, aged 18, now of no fixed address, embarked on a four-week stint of dealing when his father was in Kashmir.

Nottingham Crown Court heard on Tuesday, January 11, that his dad was away before the first lockdown which put the family under financial pressure.

Ismail started to deal drugs in a four-week period and "foolishly attended this address to try and recoup some money", explained Benn Robinson, mitigating.

Ismail pleaded guilty to burglary in Walnut Tree Gardens, Bulwell, on Wednesday, May 26, last year, where he stole a coat, possessing a kitchen knife, possessing cannabis with intent to supply on May 27, and supplying cannabis to another between May 1, 2021, and May 27, 2021.

Mr Robinson told the court: "At the time of the offence, he had just turned 18."

A reference had been provided from Ismail's then employer and confirmation he was attending college.

Judge Stuart Rafferty QC adjourned for an "all options" pre-sentence report until Friday, February 11, and reserved the case to himself.

Remanding Ismail into custody, he said he will sentence him in due course as soon as the pre-sentence report is prepared.

And he told Ismail in the dock: "You have entered sensible pleas of guilty now. You will be given credit for that. I need to know as much about you as I can and you must cooperate with a pre-sentence report".

Ismail's father has since returned from Kashmir.
