Teenage boy stabbed in violent street brawl involving 'considerable number of people' in Main Street, Garforth

A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a teenage boy was stabbed during a street fight in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police were called to Main Street, Garforth, at 10.30pm yesterday (Friday) to reports of an ongoing street brawl involving "a considerable number of people".

An 18-year-old man was found with stab wounds to the leg and arm and was taken to hospital. The force say his injuries are not life-threatening.

A 21-year-old has since been arrested and remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Guy Shackleton, of Leeds District CID, said: “We take all reports of the use of knives and other bladed weapons extremely seriously and are working hard to establish the circumstances that have led to this young man being injured.

“We understand this was connected to a wider fight involving a considerable number of people and we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and witnessed any part of this incident.”
