Teenage boy stabbed by gang of 15 outside Tesco supermarket in Middleton

A teenage boy was stabbed twice in the back by a gang of 15 youths outside a Tesco supermarket in Middleton.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the knife attack, outside Tesco Extra in Barton Road on Friday, June 28.

Detectives believe a group of around 15 people chased the victim before surrounding him and assaulting him.

The 16-year-old was rushed to hospital with a punctured lung after the attack, which happened at about 8.30pm.

He is now recovering at home.

Police said many families were out shopping during the assault, and are asking for anyone who saw it to come forward.

Det Sgt Nicola Hopkinson, from GMP’s Rochdale District, said: “We believe this large group had chased their victim before surrounding him and assaulting him.



“This happened outside a busy supermarket on a Friday evening when families were out doing their shopping so may have been witnessed by a lot of people who can help us with our enquiries.



“If you saw a group of youths gathering, witnessed them chasing the teenager and perhaps even saw the assault, we need to hear from you.”
