Teenage boy stabbed by gang in city centre

A 16-year-old by was stabbed in the leg in the city centre.

Police received a report on Sunday, April 24, at around 3am a 16-year-old boy was attacked by group of men on Bold Street. One of the group stabbed the victim in his left leg and ran from the area.

The boy was taken to hospital with a puncture wound to his leg and was discharged from hospital. Since the attack officers have carried out extensive forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries and detectives have now issued CCTV images of three men they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “We think the males pictured may have vital information to help our enquiries so if you recognise them, please come forward. No one should be subjected to such a shocking and violent attack in our city centre.

“I would like to assure people that we believe this was an isolated and targeted attack, and there is no wider threat to those visiting friends, family or shopping in our city centre. Knife crime has no place whatsoever in our communities and we rely on members of the public coming forward with information about such incidents to keep our communities safer.

"Please tell us what you know and we will take action. Although a month has passed since the incident, Your information could be vital in tracking down those responsible and removing them from our streets.

If you recognise the males pictured, or witnessed any part of the incident, then do let us know as any information you hold could prove vital in our efforts to bring those responsible to justice.”
