Teenage boy's 'busy' phone leads police to weapons and four arrests

A teenage boy's busy mobile phone led police to a number of weapons and the arrest of four people.

The 16-year-old was stopped in Prescot on Wednesday and searched by officers who found he was carrying cannabis and a phone.

During the search however, police found that found continued to ring over and over again making them suspicious.

When they had a look at the phone, they saw a number of messages on the lock screen that described pending purchases.

As a result, police travelled to a house on Wilson Road, in Prescot, to carry out a search.

While there, four people inside the house were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.

A number of weapons, including a crossbow and a large knife, money and more drugs were also discovered during the search.

On Facebook, a spokesperson for Knowsley Police said: "Following the stop check of a 16 year old male in Prescot yesterday, officers located a small amount of cannabis and a mobile phone that wouldn't stop ringing.

"A quick look at the front screen revealed some interesting messages about some purchases that were about to happen.

"Fortunately officers managed to get to an address on Wilson Road, Prescot just in the nick of time!

"Following a search of the address the whole household was arrested for the offence and subsequently released under investigation whilst further enquiries are conducted.

"Officers located a number of weapons, further drugs and a substantial amount of cash."
