Teenage boy rushed to hospital after late-night stabbing in Carrigaline, Co Cork

A teenage boy was rushed to hospital overnight after a stabbing in Co Cork.

The teen sustained several stab wounds during the incident in the Waterpark area of Carrigaline.

He was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital shortly after the assault which happened at around 10.30pm.

Another teenage boy has since been arrested in connection with the investigation and is being detained by gardai in Cork city.

The victim's injuries are understood to be non-life threatening.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred at approximately 10:25pm on Saturday 6th June 2020 in the Waterpark area of Carrigaline, County Cork.

"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident and for any persons with information to come forward.

"Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Togher Garda Station on 021 4947120, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
