Teenage boy rushed to hospital after being attacked near Pollok Park

A teenage boy was rushed to hospital after being attacked near Pollok Park in the south of Glasgow.

The 16-year-old was treated for serious facial injuries after what police are deeming a 'serious assault' in the playing fields at Corkerhill Road last Monday.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and have appealed to the public for help as part of their investigation.

A statement released by the Greater Glasgow Police Division this afternoon reads: "Detectives at Govan Police Station are continuing their enquiries and now appealing for any information after a 16-year-old male youth was seriously assaulted.

"Around 10.35pm on Monday, 15 June, police were called to the Corkerhill Road, near to the entrance to Pollok Park. Officers attended and traced a 16-year-old boy who had been assaulted in the nearby playing fields.

"The teenager was treated for a serious facial injury at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital."

Detective Sergeant Pauline McGowan of Govan Police Station commented: "We are still working to gather more information on the circumstances surrounding this incident. Our investigation is ongoing and we are continuing to study CCTV from the local area and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this attack to contact us.

"Anyone with information can contact Helen Street Police Station through 101 quoting reference number 4047 of 15th June. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
