Teenage boy running from Gardai arrested after stealing money in Meath car break-in spree

A young teenager who tried to escape from Gardai by running through estates has been arrested following a spate of car break-ins.

Gardai in Meath received a call at around 4:30am on Thursday morning with residents saying they had spotted a teen boy trying car door handles in the Navan area.

Once the squad car landed near Beaufort Place, the teen is said to have ran through estates in an attempt to get away from Gardai.

He was eventually caught a short distance away and was found to be in possession of a sum of money.

A Garda spokesman added: "He was arrested and taken to Navan Garda Station. The gardai are looking to see if they can identify anybody in the estate that had cash stolen from their car last night. If you did please contact the station on 046-9036100."
