Teenage boy 'kicked and punched' by gang who stole his bike outside McDonald's

A thug threatened to stab a teenage boy for his bike outside a McDonald's restaurant in north Manchester.

Victim Zidane Khan tried to cling onto his wheels but the offender showed him the handle of a large knife in his bag, before threatening to 'shank' him.

The robber was part of a six-man gang who 'kicked and punched' the 17-year-old during the robbery on Monday night.

They stole Zidane's £300 bike, as well as his pal's wheels.

The incident happened at 10.10pm, outside the McDonald's branch on Oldham Road, Newton Heath.

Zidane, said: "I decided to go for a bike ride. On the way back we wanted to stop off to eat a McDonald's."

The 17-year-old then went inside to order, and asked his friends to look after his bike outside.

When he came back, a gang of boys had their hands on his Carrera bike.

Zidane ran out and grabbed hold of the handlebars, but the offenders pulled back and began attacking him.

Zidane Khan, 17, said: "I told them not to take it. They were kicking and punching me. I tried to defend myself. I fought back. I shouted for my mates.

"They said they were going to shank me. I think it was a machete. I didn't let go of the bike."

The yobs managed to tug the bike free and cycled away from the scene.

Zidane added: "I ran after them. I ended up going back to McDonald's really angry. I was calling the police. I jumped in a car with two other lads. I was so mad and angry. My legs went, I had cramp."

His dad Majid Hussain said: "I'm angry they had the nerve to rob someone.

"They were kneeing him, elbowing him. He lives in a nice area, we always taught him to be law-abiding. We are Muslims, we are trying to be as good as we can. For this to happen to him, he can't get over it. He came home and didn't sleep all night."

Police confirmed they were called to the scene and said no arrests had been made.
