Teenage boy in hospital with serious injuries after crash in Leeds city centre

A teenage boy is in hospital with serious injuries after a crash with a car in Leeds city centre.

West Yorkshire Police were called at around 5pm to the A61 near the Crown Point Shopping Park after reports of a crash.

The accident involved a car and a teenage boy.

The road has been closed in both directions causing huge queues in the centre of Leeds.

A spokeswoman for the force said that the teenage boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Traffic website Inrix says: "A61 in both directions closed, heavy traffic due to accident between A653 and Meadow Lane.

"Congestion to Hunslet Road and Victoria Road. Also Swinegate, Bridge End and Black Bull Street."

Around six police cars have been spotted at the scene with motorists being diverted away from the area.

It is causing huge queues and delays.
