Teenage boy in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in back street

A teenage boy is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in a Bury back street.

Police were called to an alleyway off Grosvenor Street, in the Fishpool area of the town, at 4.30pm on Thursday (February 4).

A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

He remains there in a stable condition.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and remains in custody for questioning.

Enquiries are ongoing, say Greater Manchester Police.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called at 4.30pm on Thursday 4 February to a report of a stabbing in an alleyway off Grosvenor Street, Bury.

"A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and remains there in a stable condition.

"A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and remains in custody for questioning.

"Enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident 1937 of 04/02/2021. Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
