Teenage boy in hospital after being stabbed near Metrolink stop

A teenage boy has been taken to hospital after being stabbed near Abraham Moss Metrolink station.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Crescent Road near to the stop, shortly before 5pm this afternoon.

It is understood the incident took place in an alleyway next to the stop.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Police say their enquiries are ongoing.

GMP says this is being treated as an isolated incident and there is not believed to be any threat to the wider public.

Trams are not currently stopping at the tram stop, which remains cordoned off by police.
