Teenage boy gets USB cable stuck in urethra while trying to measure himself

A teenage boy tried to measure the length of his own penis - but ended up in hospital after getting a USB cable stuck in his urethra while doing so.

The extremely uncomfortable incident happened recently and was detailed in the latest report in medical journal Urology.

But we've flicked through it to bring you the oh-so-painful sounding details.

The 15-year-old told doctors that he wanted to "measure the length of his penis" after being triggered by sexual curiosity.

He decided to insert the USB cable into his private parts via the urethra to stimulate himself.

However, it got stuck and he was unable to remove it.

Shortly afterwards, he noticed blood in his urine, which saw him go to his local A and E department.

Doctors first tried using a scope to remove the cable - a long metal rod.

But that didn't work as the cable had managed to knot itself while inside the boy, so he was transferred to University College Hospital

In the operating room, surgeons made an incision into his penis, noticed that the cable had been cut in two segments, and then removed both segments.

After sewing up his urethra and penis, the surgeons then inserted catheters so that the boy was able to use the bathroom without damaging himself further.

Two weeks later, doctors checked the area, didn’t find any leakage or excessive scar tissue, and removed the catheters.

So all was well that ended well.

Although, the case report from Urology mentioned a number of other cases with people inserting things into their urethras.

These included needles, pins, iron wires, pistachio shells, plastic forks, spoons, screws, aluminium, pieces of cardboard or paper, staples, pens and pencils, more cables, spray foam sealant

We feel like we shouldn't have to say this, but don't put any of the above items into your urethra.
