Teenage boy found dead at park in Bolton

A teenage boy has been found dead in a park.

Police were called to Thomasson Park in Bolton at about 3am on Sunday following reports of concern for the boy's welfare.

Sadly the boy, thought to be 17, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A forensics tent has been set up in the corner of the children's playground off Yarrow Place as investigations are carried out.

Witnesses also reported seeing forensics officers in the Halliwell park, which is also known as Mere Hall.

In a statement GMP said officers are keeping an 'open mind as to the circumstances surrounding the death', but added it is not currently being treated as suspicious.

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 5757 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
