Teenage boy fighting for his life after being shot near a park

A teenage boy is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot near a park this evening.

Police were called to the scene at around 9.35pm this evening in Bury, Greater Manchester.

No arrests have been made but inquiries are ongoing.

The force was responding to reports of shots being fired.

The age of the boy is not known at this point.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "A scene is in place and a large high-visibility police presence will remain in the area."

Ten police cars and a tactical aid unit car are at the scene, Bury Times reported.

The road has been sealed off following the shooting.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 3452.
