Teenage boy arrested after Shetland pony found dead in West Lothian

A teenager has been arrested after a Shetland pony was found dead in West Lothian.

The animal, named Pepper, was discovered in Broxburn around 11am yesterday in a field behind Roman Camp Cottages.

Police launched an investigation into the death before charging a teen boy in connection.

Owner Thomas George Ullathorne posted a picture of the pony on Facebook, while urging people to remember the animal "in happier times."

He hailed his "good friend" after the pony was found dead

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A teenage boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a Shetland pony in Broxburn.

"The pony was found dead in a field behind Roman Camp Cottages, Broxburn, around 11 am on Monday, 8 June, 2020.

"He is due to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court today."
