Teenage boy and girl arrested on suspicion of robbery after reports of stolen car

A teenage boy and girl have been arrested after a car was stolen in Moston last night.

Police said the theft was reported at around 6.40pm on Edale Avenue.

A short time later officers were made aware of a suspicious vehicle close by on Scarborough Street.

Witnesses reported a major police response with two dog units, four police patrol cars and the force helicopter seen searching the surrounding area.

The two teens were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called at 6.40pm on Sunday 7 February to a report of a theft of a car on Edale Avenue, Manchester.

"A short time later, officers were made aware of a suspicious vehicle on Scarborough Street, Moston."

"Enquiries established the vehicle matched the description of the stolen car.

"Two teenagers – a boy and girl – have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in custody for questioning.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
