TikTok trolls have been out in force after a teen posted a video of him proposing to his pensioner girlfriend recently.
Giuseppe D'Anna, who is 19-years-old, has gone viral after showing his proposal to his girlfriend, who is 76.
The TikToker has over 191,000 followers online and to celebrate the proposal, he posted a compilation of images earlier this week.
It showed him kneeling on his right knee in front of his girlfriend, followed by pictures holding more than a dozen huge balloons in the shape of a heart and passionately kissing his soon-to-be wife.
The video, which has been viewed more than 138,500 times, is captioned ''La nostra promessa'.
In English, this translates to “our promise.”
The compilation of images also features a selfie of the pair and a photo of Giuseppe wearing what appeared to be a gold chain and his bride-to-be holding a rose.
Guiseppe also shared an image of the ring with which he proposed.
In spite of the trolls’ reactions, he captioned this: ''And this is only the beginning of a long series”.
The post left many people speculating about why Giuseppe may be with the older woman.
Some comments on his TikTok content suggested some thought he was chasing her will, with one person commenting: “Oh she rich...We all know what he in it for.”
Another person was convinced he wanted a Sony PlayStation 5.
And someone else did some maths and wrote: ''She is literally old enough to be his great great grandmother.''
Giuseppe's fiancee has also been called his grandma on several occasions.
But the teen was insistent their relationship was real, hitting back at commenters to say: ''my love is beautiful [heart emoji].”
The couple has also managed to gain some supportive fans, with one TikTok user commenting: “Y’all quit being mean.
“They actually look adorable and for being 76 or 74 she looks so much younger…”
It is not the first time a couple with an age gap has gained attention on social media.
