Dublin stabbing: Teen slashed by thug in brutal assault in Balbriggan

A teenager was rushed to hospital last night after being slashed by a thug in a stabbing attack in north Dublin.

The horrific late night assault took place at around 9pm in the Hamlet Lane area of Balbriggan.

The young man, who is said to be between 17 and 19-years-old, was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda and is currently recovering from non-life threatening injuries sustained from the stab wounds.

Gardai have confirmed that an investigation has been launched but no arrests have been made yet.

A spokesman told Dublin Live: "We are investigating an assault that occurred at approximately 9pm in Balbriggan last night, Wednesday 19th August.

"A man in his late teens was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda with what were believed to be stab wounds and is recovering from the non-life threatening injuries."

He added: "No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing."
