A 17-year-old boy took himself to a hospital after being shot Thursday morning near Horner Park on the border of the Albany Park and Ravenswood Manor neighborhoods.

The shooting happened about 6:10 a.m. in the 2700 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Karie James.

Shortly after, he walked into Swedish Hospital with a gunshot wound to his forearm, James said. He was listed in good condition.

The shooting happened in CPD’s 17th District, which has responded to seven shootings so far this year through March 7, according to police statistics. During the same period last year, the district saw nine shootings.

The incident was the first reported shooting after a violent Wednesday in Chicago that saw 15 people shot, four of them fatally.

The next most recent shooting happened about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday in Logan Square. A man was shot in the 2600 block of North Kedzie Avenue near Schubert Avenue, James said.
