A 17-year-old boy was killed Tuesday on the Southeast Side.

Guerrero Lerma was inside a vehicle about 5:17 p.m. in the 10900 block of Avenue O when someone approached him and opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Lerma was struck in the back and side, police said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made, and Area South detectives are investigating.
