Teen scarred for life after pal bit lump out of her cheek in row over a man at Scots nightclub

A teenage girl is facing jail after a court heard she bit a former friend's face during a vicious .

Danielle Gaffar, 19, sank her teeth into Kyra Strachan's cheek at the Aura nightspot in Dundee on February 3 this year.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard that the pair, who were both 18 at the time, were formerly friends.

But there had been a falling out and animosity between them over a man who was the former partner of the accused.

Prosecutor Kirsten Letford told the court that Strachan had been on the dancefloor of the club when she was attacked from behind, pulled to the ground, and her head was banged off the floor several times.

At first she had no idea who her attacker was, the court heard, but she then saw it was Gaffar.

Mrs Letford told the court that a friend of the victim tried to intervene, but Gaffar put her arm around her throat so she was struggling to breathe.

She said: "The accused then bit her on the right cheek."

Staff spotted the fracas and intervened and Gaffar was ejected from the club and police were called.

The victim was rushed to Ninewell Hospital once officers released the extent of her injuries.

Medical staff entered eight stitches in her check repair the bite mark.

Her mark was described as "a significant wound" that doctors said would leave permanent scarring.

The victim also suffered bruising to her face and forehead.

Gaffar, of Tealing, Dundee pleaded guilty to assault, which caused severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

Sheriff Tom Hughes told Gaffar it was "a very serious matter" and due to her age he was required to call for a social work criminal justice report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.

He deferred sentence until October 31 and continued bail.
