Teen rushed to hospital after mass brawl at Troon beach

A 16-year-old boy suffered serious facial injuries during an altercation in Troon involving a number of teenagers.

The teenager was with a group of around 20 youngsters aged between 14-16 on a packed Troon beach at around 5.45pm on Saturday afternoon, August 15.

An altercation took place during the heatwave and the 16-year-old suffered a serious facial injury.

Police and ambulance were called but the group left on police arrival.

The injured male was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock where he was treated before later being released.

On Tuesday afternoon Constable Kieran Young at Ayr Police Station said he was appealing for information.

Kieran said: “Most of the group involved headed off in the direction of the train station immediately after this incident.

"We have been carrying out enquiries to trace those involved and studying CCTV footage to identify the group.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information that will assist the investigation into this serious assault to contact Ayr Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 3288 of 15th August."

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
