A teenager has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed on a beach in North Dublin.

The boy, believed to be 17, was with a group of youths on Portmarnock beach on Friday night.

The alarm was raised after the victim was dropped at a local garda station and rushed to hospital from there.

He's currently in Beaumont Hospital where his wounds are described as non-life threatening, Dublin Live reports.

Gardai swarmed the Malahide and Portmarnock areas and are currently on the hunt for the attacker.

It's understood a number of youths had been gathered at the beach at the time.
